Korea Travels - Day 3, Shopping in Insadong

Saturday, October 8, 2005.

Eric and I met up with Sangmi and headed to Insadong. We walked up and down the street peering into shops and enjoying the sights.

While we were shopping, we were stopped by two middle school students. They had a homework assignment to ask an English speaking person a list of questions and write down the answers. They did a good job, except they thought Michigan was Mexico!

There are a few galleries you can visit along this street, too. We took a look at a knife gallery and a toy gallery.

The knife gallery was noted as the largest in the world. It had a lot of swords and knifes from movies. It had pocket knifes, rescue knifes, Katanas, and a lot more. It was worth the dollar admission fee.

The toy gallery contained toys that most Americans would recognize and some that were native to Korea. This too, was worth the dollar admission fee.

This is a doll display in the Toy Museum.

This poster is telling children to pick up propaganda and bring it to the police. If they see a plane dropping flyers, they should report that to the police. This poster was created when the North would fly over the South and drop paper that stating that the North was good.
